Winter Wonderland

Today was a good day. After packing for our trip, we went sledding. I haven't been in probably four years. It was so fun to see Sunny Slopes just like I remember it from when I was little and my dad used to take Dillon and I all the time. It was amazing that nothing has changed. The steep, snow covered hill' the cold, biting wind; the families and groups of friends, even the long and exhausting walk up from the bottom has not changed. Actually, it has. It's worse. lol. When I was younger, I was in a lot better shape. Now, Dillon practically has to drag me up the hill in a sled. (just kidding)
It was so beautiful even though it was over cast. The trees glistened with fresh, heaven-sent, powder. The road was slushy but was still a path to the most fun I have had in a long time. I'll never forget going down the hill with Klara and giggling, then bailing and rolling over her arm. I was afraid it was going to be broken. Thankfully it wasn't :-) I am so glad that no one got hurt. Other than the split i did, I feel good. Like I got to do something that I did alot before we moved. I really like remembering things... reliving the past. It is such a cool feeling.
So now here I sit. In my room, huddled under blankets with freezing fingers moving vigorously across the keyboard trying to keep warm. My nose is cold and I can't seem to find any suitable warmth for my toes. I'm counting the ticks of the clock in anxiousness, waiting for Tuesday morning at 9:30 am when we will leave this frozen tundra of a place in search of something warmer. It's too bad we won't be able to stay there.
Current Sounds: Halo 3 in the living room. Mom reading Ben one of my favorite children's books, the Runaway Bunny. My computer keys clicking, and the fan kicking on.
Current Feelings: Confusion and at the same time satisfaction. Hunger for the warm soup on the stove.
Current Books: All But My Life by Gerda Klein (thanks to a great friend for getting it for me!) Letters for Emily by Cameron Wright (an odd, but impacting book) To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee (still trying to finish!!)
Happy trails to you, until we meet again!
